Student Nurses' Association would like to invite you to our CPK Fundraiser!

When: Thursday August 13th 2009
Time: Beginning at 10am and lasting all day
Where: California Pizza Kitchen in Stockton (located across the street from the college)
*Please bring the attached flyer and present it to your server when ordering and the NSNA will receive 20% of your bill!

California Pizza Kitchen has graciously opened their restaurant to us 1 hour before they open to the public. This will give us time to order our food, catch up with each other/get to know new students, exchange books, buy uniform patches or learn some important information from more seasoned students. At this fundraiser the SNA will be selling uniform patches (3 patches for $15), SNA hooded sweatshirts $35, zipped sweatshirts $40 and fleece jackets $45. In addition, the SNA has been fortunate to have “Scrubs” (a uniform store located in Stockton) donate several items that we will be raffling off as door prizes at 11:00am for those student that are present at that time. We hope to see most of you there because events such as these is a great way to network with students in other semesters but also with some of your fellow classmates. Most returning students will tell you...”You need to have some friends in this program that will help you out when you need it the most!”

We look forward to see you all there!
Thank you!

The correct spelling for the review is HURST sorry, Debbie

Monday, May 4, 2009

Hi Everyone, As most of you are aware, the majority of our graduating class picked July 9-12th for the Huerst Review. That's Thursday -Sunday. The cost is normally $350.00 Kim Thompson was able to work out a deal for our graduating class.  The $100.00 that you would normally get after you graduate for one of these review classes, you can use for only the Huerst Review prior to graduation.  So your cost will be $250.00 You have to go to www.huerstview.com  Sign up for the review for Delta College July 9-12 Thursday -Sunday The sign up cost is $50.00  When you report to the review on July 9th you can pay the balance of $200.00 or you can pay $100.00 and post date a check for August 9th for the balance of $100.00  We need everyone who I spoke to to do this. We have just a little over 20 students and we need 20 to proceed.  If you know of any students who are graduating who would like to do this , pass the word along. Thanks for all your help.  If you have any questions call me at 482-2707 Debbie

SNA Fundraiser with California Pizza Kitchen

Next Thursday (03/12/09), the Student Nursing Association will be holding a fundraiser at California Pizza Kitchen. Just show up to CPK and dine in or pick up! Hand them this flyer and 20% of the entire purchase (including alcohol) will go to the Student Nursing Association. The fundraiser was scheduled between the two classes so that it gives everyone time to relax and talk to other nursing students there about what to expect for the rest of the semester. It will be a great time to find out about the Nursing 6 and 7 classes and encourage the Nursing 2, 4,& 5 students. I tried to add a copy of the flyer at the bottom of this post. You should be able to click it to open it so you can print one yourself. If you can't print one, please email me and I can send you a copy of it. The Nursing Office should also be sending out a Word Document version to everyone soon. So check your school email account!

Nursing 5 at San Joaquin Mental Health for self defense training with Taffy!  If you didn't meet Taffy you missed out.  This past semester the Staff at San Joaquin Mental Health held a presentation on how to handle and avoid confrontations with patients.  While a good time was had by all, one must remember situations can arise where your life can be in danger or your patient is at risk of hurting someone or themselves.  Once again Jordon shows his true colors and gets a laugh from his fellow students.  Hope you enjoy the pictures.

This past Christmas , the SNA had the privilege of sharing Christmas with Family Ties.
We would like to thank all of you who donated a present that we gave to the children of Family Ties.  It was a huge success!!  The following student nurses participated in this event, Ogechi, Angela, Sherri, Jessica and Debbie.  Our special guest was Santa, who gave the parents and children a happy holiday cheer.  This year Santa was Sherri's husband.  We took pictures of each child with Santa and gave their mother the framed photo.  Hope you enjoy our pictures as much as we enjoyed this experience.
